This group was formed in April 2014 by local residents, with the sole intention of improving and developing the only green space in the Devonshire Ward. The Rec was awarded the Queen’s Covenant in commemoration of the diamond Jubilee ensuring this space is never built on.
Play Equipment
Devonshire West Big Local has supported the development of this special community space by providing £60,000 (which was matched by Eastbourne Borough Council) to provide a safe play area and exciting play equipment. An all-weather path was also created round the park and some creative planting was achieved.
Infrastructure
DWBL has also supported the Rec by providing £11,370 for a disabled toilet, £287 for benches, and most recently £300 for wifi for its Paws Awhile cafe.
