DWBL Funded Play Activities

There was a high demand for play activities for children.

Summer Holiday Play Schemes – £16,926

Community Stuff, as a trusted local organisation who always ran high quality projects were awarded multiple grants to deliver play sessions by DWBL from 2015 to 2022. They delivered free play sessions three times a week at Seaside Recreation ground in the summer holidays every year, with play equipment for families to play together, as well as circus skills, sports days, and weekly craft in the park sessions. They encouraged parents and grandparents to get involved and play with their children and grandchildren at all the sessions. Many families got involved in the free fun every summer.

Lego Club – £5,000

Every Autumn term Community Stuff ran a weekly Lego Club where children of all ages could come along and get creative together with Lego. Children over 8 could be dropped off, but younger children needed their parents to accompany them to the popular sessions. Many children would come directly from Bourne School when school finished for the day.

Craft Events – £5,000

Community Stuff also provided special indoor events for Easter, Christmas, and Halloween where families could enjoy free creative fun together. They ran a Christmas craft session every year and a Christmas Party for children, with presents for the children attending supplied by More Radio.

Sweet Circus – £8,013

Sweet Circus have provided free play in the park in the summer holidays for the last three years of DWBL. They ran 3, 2-hour play sessions a week for 5 weeks during the summer holidays. The aim was to provide local families with the opportunity to engage in some active play. Sessions were all circus themed and included structured activities such as circus inspired games and aerial hoop workshops as well as child led nondirective play using circus equipment. This summer they added a craft and sensory play session every week.
