Welcome to Devonshire West Big Local

Devonshire West Big Local has now completed its work. Using over a million pounds to improve the lives of the residents of the Western part of Devonshire ward in Eastbourne. The initial bid for funding was made by Pat Taylor from Eastbourne Borough Council. Our thanks go to her for making Devonshire West Big Local possible.

To celebrate the end, Devonshire West Fest was held on the 16th of September 2023. About 500 people attended for food, drinks and free entertainment from 12pm to 8pm.

Here is the video of the event and congratulatory letter from Matt Leach, the CEO of Local Trust!

The aims of the local trust were to:

  • Prioritise making a difference that the community needs.
  • Increase peoples skill sets and confidence.
  • Identify local needs and take action in response to them.
  • Make people feel that their area is an even better place to live.

At the beginning – What did residents want?

A working group carried out  extensive consultations with residents as to how to best spend the million, before the first board was formed in 2014.

What did residents say they wanted in their area?
